TALA MD talks to young people about ‘Evolving Early Careers in PR’

Earlier this week, our MD Corin Allen was on a panel at an event organised by Public Relations Oxford, aimed at aspiring PR professionals looking to kickstart their careers.

The discussion was varied, exploring the importance of being curious and tenacious in finding a role, the impact AI can have on learning the softer skills required, and how young people can get a foot on the ladder and find PR roles. In fact, we were shocked to learn from fellow panelist Samuel Conley from the Creative Mentoring Network that only 29% of young people have access to work experience.

The fact that there aren’t more opportunities is a little surprising to us at TALA. In recent years, we’ve worked hard to create internship and apprenticeship opportunities as there are huge benefits to nurturing future talent, both for the young person and for our agency – something that our founder Andrew Baud is passionate about.

In 2024 we will be looking for our next apprentice through PRApprentices. We also hope to continue our outreach programme with local Oxfordshire schools and we have regular internship opportunities throughout the year.

If you are interested in any of these, or know someone who might be, please drop us an email at hello@teamtala.com or follow us to hear about the latest opportunities.
