Growing and nurturing our team has been a huge focus this year as we introduced a new chair, welcomed several new team members, developed the TALA International Network and invested in the PR stars of the future.
What stage are you at with nurturing your PR career? Perhaps you’re busy planting seeds or possibly now enjoying the fruits of your labour?
Last week we were at @North Oxfordshire Academy’s Careers and Apprenticeship Fair in Banbury, helping to give young people an insight into PR as they try to make decisions about their options for apprenticeships, universities courses and career paths.
Last year we announced that we would allocate our normal budget for client Christmas gifts toward creating three paid internships for first-year sixth-formers from nearby communities. We had such a positive response to our decision to invest in the next generation of PR professionals, that we couldn’t wait to get the programme up and running.
What happens when you bring together seven sixth form students and ask them to create a PR campaign to get grandad connected? Last week, Andrew Baud and Lex Rosenthal held TALA’s first year 12 workshop, at North Oxfordshire Academy in Banbury, exploring how harnessing the power of communications is a valuable skill for teenagers studying media, business, politics, English, psychology and more.
Each day, month and year in PR is so varied that you can only really understand if it’s the right career for you by getting stuck in to research, writing, events and media relations on the job. Which is exactly what Lotta, our PRCA apprentice, has been doing with TALA since September.
